Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can lead to rapid death if left
untreated. It occurs when the body’s immune system reacts to harmless
substances, like peanuts or bee stings, as though they were harmful invaders.
Food Allergy Anaphylaxis: Case History
An anaphylactic reaction is the overabundant release of histamines and other mediators causing in addition to the skin reactions, smooth muscle spasms and capillary leakage and vasodilation. These can present with severe throat and tongue swelling, mucus development within the bronchioles causing severe respiratory distress.
